As some of you may or may not know we have been making origami cranes in the pub.
Hollie our Assistant Manager set a challenge to the customers and the staff to make 1000 cranes before Christmas---
And we did it!
The idea behind it lies in Japanese legend, 1000 cranes are often given as a gift whereby a wish is then granted by crane. This is done for many things, such as a new baby, a newlywed couple, or when a girl turns 13 as a matchmaking charm.
So armed with 1000 sheets of origami paper, and instructions to make a paper crane, which you can find here, we set about it. Just a few went up at ffirst, people were having crane-offs where they were challenging each other to see who could make the quickest crane.
IT WAS CRAZY!
Anyway, after another 1000 sheets of paper ordered (yup that's 2000 in total) we finally had 1000 origami paper cranes up on the ceiling on December 17th. It looked amazing, you almost couldn't see the ceiling in some places.
We need a new idea, something that people would like to do in the pub, but a little bit different. If you have an idea come in and let us know!
